Again, written in 1977. This is a lonesome song. I had just returned home after traveling along the road for a few months. I went from being alone in the mountains to the hustle and bustle of city life. I was dating a woman who was hooked on a variety of drugs. It wasn't a very good time.

Lyrics

Sittin’ here and I’m stoned again
but I’m feelin’ pretty good
It’s almost a full moon outside
and old man winter’s at the door

Truck’s got a flat, I ain’t been paid in a month
There’s bruises on my woman’s arms
I wish my thumb was the pilot it used to be
for some reason
I think I need more

Bring me back to the day of the buffalo
back before days of millions
Let me rest my head on your shoulder
for I feel like I’m fixin’ to cry

Old Tom he’ll be in Vermont soon
you should hear him play that old mandolin
Tom Coates he’s with a lady of the canyon
and Hoag Tyler, a son to the redwoods

I remember the Verde Hot Springs
I was so high I almost took off
Now I’m back in the city
and I question myself every day

Bring me back to the day of the buffalo
back before days of millions
Let me rest my head on your shoulder
for I feel like I’m fixin’ to cry
for I feel like I’m fixin’ to cry
I’m fixin’ to cry
I’m fixin’ to cry
