From the recording The Way Things Used To Be - Available here, and on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon, Pandora, and Deezer.
Written in December 1983. I believe this is around the time I met my future wife here in El Paso. She is still, to this very day, a good gal. This is a real old-fashioned honky-tonk tune with some pretty fancy piano work.
Lyrics
My heart’s on fire
for your love
My heart’s on fire
for your love
Oh won’t you please
stand in my doorway
Oh won’t you please
please take my hand
My heart’s on fire
I’m takin’ a stand
You are so pretty
like the mornin’ sun
You are so beautiful
I’m glad you’ve cum
Oh won’t you please
share with me laughter
Oh won’t you please
please share with me
My heart’s on fire
I’m takin’ a stand
My heart's on fire
My heart's on fire
My heart's on fire
