This is a fun tune. I do a version of Lowell Fulson’s ‘Reconsider Baby’ and use an opening phrase similar to the phrase I use here. I created a drum track that gives it a bit of a rat-ta-tat-tat feel. El Pasoan Ruben Gutierrez provided the piano and organ. Curt Bushaw added bass. One of the things I really like about this song is its simplicity. There’s nothing to it really. The ‘hound dog’ guitar in the last two progressions came to be in a spontaneous flash. Later, I was playing a pre-mastered version to my golfing buddy Pat “Guitar Slim” Chase while we were out on the golf course. When he heard the last two progressions, he said it sounded like a hound dog - thus the name. I play a Fender Strat, Guild D40-C single cut-away acoustic guitar. Drum tracks were assembled through the Presonus Firestudio Project. Recorded on a Tascam Portastudio DP-24SD.
